In order to manage occupational road risk, drivers should be afforded periodic training. Decision Driver Training contains an interactive audio visual theory element (90 min) and an in-vehicle training session (one hour). This highly successful model is available for employers with small, medium or large fleets of cars / vans / minibuses / coaches or HGVs or who have staff driving their own vehicles on business. The focus of this course is raising driver awareness, concentration and observation skills and anticipating the probable actions of other road users and encouraging best practice skills.
The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 includes the company vehicle as a place of work and states that ’every employer shall ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the safety, health and welfare at work of his or her employees’.
All staff who drive company vehicles or their own vehicles during their working day.
Cars, Vans, Minibus, Rigid Trucks and HGV’s.
On course completion, the participants will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the Principles of Decision Driving including an increased level of observation, hazard management, space management and vehicle control.
The course consists of a theory session followed by an In-Vehicle session on a one-to-one basis with the driver. The course content can be customised to meet your organisation’s requirements. On completion of the course, participants receive a Driver Assessment Report and Certificate of Attendance.
A full licence for their vehicle category, an open mind and a willingness to learn and improve.
Periodic Refresher Training is also available for drivers who have previously undertaken DDT (Decision Driver Training). The aim of this course is to identify any areas of driving which are weak and to encourage the driver to take corrective action. Periodic training keeps the driver sharp and reinforces previous training.
