Sports First Aid

In the world of sport, knowing how to respond quickly and effectively to an injury or medical emergency can mean the difference between recovery and long-term damage, or even life and death.

Whether you’re a coach, player, volunteer, or spectator, having the skills to provide immediate first aid can make a crucial difference. Prompt action can help prevent thousands of serious outcomes each year across sporting activities in Ireland.

Recognising the signs and symptoms of common sports-related injuries or medical conditions such as concussion, fractures, cardiac events, or heat exhaustion and knowing how to respond appropriately can help keep a casualty stable, prevent further harm, and may ultimately save a life.

Please note that this is an awareness course only and does not replace hands-on, practical First Aid training. For those involved in regular sports events or team management, further practical training is strongly recommended.
